l'histoire

Opening a new chapter in my life, I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, on March 19, 2007. It is highly exciting to embark on my career change and to work at the North Carolina State University. I have found that I really enjoy my job in Residence Education. Working with and mentor students is my passion in life. I have a feeling that I will work in higher education for a long time.

I transplanted from the fabulous state of West Virginia, where I lived in Huntington. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the area, it is where the corners of Kentucky and Ohio meet with the "Mountain State." First off, have no fear, West Virginia is not as backwards are you might think -- we did have running water and indoor plumbing, you know. Prior places where I have lived include: Michigan (Ann Arbor), Ohio (Ashland) and metro New York City.

Educationally speaking, I received my Masters degree in Counseling (Student Personnel in Higher Education) from The University of West Virginia College of Graduate Studies, in West Virginia. My Bachelors degree came from Ashland University with a dual-major in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Finally, after a somewhat boring childhood, I was graduated from New Providence High School. Past work experience has included working for the Tutoring Program and Faculty Senate at Marshall University and on the Residence Life Staff at Ashland University.

le présent

Beginning on March 19, 2007, my new employment is being the Assistant Director of University Housing within the West Campus area at the North Carolina State University. I also attended Western Michigan University where I completed 48 credit hours in the Ph.D. program in Student Affairs in Higher Education. Under the direction of Dr. Theresa O'Halloran, I have been working on a doctoral level project examining Sexual Assault Prevention & Intervention within a college student affairs setting.

It is with slight hesitation that I put my contact information on the Web. I figure, however, that I'm not too hard to track down and that any stalker would be able to find me. I must request, however, that all psychotic, unstable, stalkers and freaks please E-Mail me instead of calling or visiting.

what, are you "that way"?

One thing that you might have gathered while reading this page is that I am gay. Yes, homosexual. I was never abused by my parents nor was I recruited by the "gay movement." I lived a happy childhood. Gay people are normal people who live ordinary lives. As I have moved through life, I have had many people tell me that I "must choose my battles" when it comes to openly admitting my sexual orientation. I find this totally unacceptable because, as a child, I thought that I was the only gay person on earth. By openly living my life as a gay man, I might be able to affect the life of one gay youth who is coming to grips with his or her sexuality. With the high rate of depression and suicide associated with gay youth, establishing positive adult role models is of the utmost importance. Gay activism is something that I take seriously and I am a published columnist for the national monthly magazines Oasis. Lastly, with the assistance of Okey Napier, I completed my Masters degree research project under the direction of Dr. Lynda Ann Ewen entitled Homophobia: The Social Basis of Male Supremacy? Currently, I am single and looking for a life partner. Take a look at my personal ad:

If you haven't figured it out by now, I am a "geek." The simple fact that you are reading this probably qualifies you as one, too. See the definitive Code of the Geeks link for an explanation of my code:
